Step Wars — Privacy Policy

I. Overview

Step Wars ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. We are committed to being transparent and protecting your personal information.

In short: we collect only what's needed to run the game, we never sell your data, and you can delete your account at any time.

II. Information We Collect

When you use Step Wars, we may collect the following information:

III. Step Data

Step Wars uses your device's built-in step sensor to track your daily step count. We access only step count data. We do not access heart rate, sleep data, weight, GPS location, or any other health metrics.

Step data is processed locally on your device and synced to your game profile via Firebase. You can reset your step data at any time through the game settings.

IV. How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect to:

Create and maintain your game account
Convert your real-world steps into in-game gold
Save and sync your game progress across sessions
Power leaderboards and PvP matchmaking
Detect cheating and enforce fair play
Improve game performance and fix bugs

V. Data Storage & Security

Your game data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, which provides encryption at rest and in transit. We use Firebase Authentication for secure sign-in. Access to your data is restricted by security rules that ensure only you can modify your own game state.

While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to keep your Google account credentials safe.

VI. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share limited data only in the following cases:

Leaderboards: Your player name, race, and ranking are visible to other players
PvP combat: Opposing players can see your player name and army composition during battles
Service providers: We use Firebase (Google) for authentication and data storage, subject to Google's privacy policies
Legal requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process

Your email address is never displayed publicly within the game.

VII. Advertising

Step Wars displays ads through Google AdMob to support the free-to-play experience. AdMob may collect and use data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads, including:

Device identifiers (Advertising ID)
IP address
General location (country/region level)
App usage data and ad interaction data

You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings under Settings → Privacy → Ads (or equivalent on your device).

Players who purchase the Crown Pass subscription will not see mandatory attack ads, though optional reward-based ads remain available.

VIII. Third-Party Services

Step Wars relies on the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

Firebase / Google Cloud — Authentication, database, analytics

IX. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your data — your game state is visible in-game at all times
Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us
Reset your game progress at any time through game settings
Revoke Google Sign-In access through your Google account settings

To request data deletion, contact us at the email below. We will process requests within 30 days.

X. Children's Privacy

Step Wars is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

XI. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of Step Wars after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
